Do you know what is DASH diet?

DASH Diet as the name suggests is for diabetics. I learnt about this diet when I took my husband to his diabetologist for routine check.

The doctor looked obviously proud of his knowledge. I believe every doctor takes pleasure when confronted with ignorant patients.

What is Dash Diet?
DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. Hmmm... pretty long name-eh?

It appears this special diet got the approval of several doctors as it was found to effectively reduce the blood glucose level. In addition DASH also lowered cholesterol.

Since my husband is suspecting that his body is showing resistance to insulin, he thought he would try this new diet.

Are you curious to know what exactly does DASH diet include?

They are nothing but whole grains, high fiber vegetables that we, the spouses of diabetics are aware of.

Oh come on, there is nothing new here except the name that may sound fancy to those who just discovered they have diabetes.

There is plenty of free information online from the National Institutes of Health's National Heart Lung and Blood Institute.

There is also a bestselling book written by Maria Heller, MS, RD
