I just smile away when some of my students or teacher friends ask me if I am believer? To reply would mean defending my beliefs. I am of the firm opinion that you should never defend your beliefs.
I once made a blog post titled, "Why should be go to temples" based on a sentence that I read which goes like this: "When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something!"..
Long after I wrote that blog post, I have more answers for the same question. The urge to burst out with revealing answers is strong but I am also taught not to yield to such temptations which would compromise one's basic premises.
There is hope, always but only for those who are curious.
